A cute little lighthouse at Cape Meares, a few miles from Oceanside, Oregon. The lighthouse was built in 1890, and is now part of Cape Meares State Park. The first visit to this place was so fog-shrouded that we could barely see the lighthouse from a few feet away. Fortunately the following day it was sunny and beautiful.
This ship was moored at Pier 39 in Astoria, Oregon. The bridge in the background is the very long Astoria-Megler Bridge that connects Astoria and the tip of Washington, spanning the Columbia River.
This large swallowtail one of many seen flying on Mary's Peak, the tallest peak of the Coastal Range of mountains in Oregon. They were feeding on red columbine, and on fir trees. I saw two of them doing a mating dance in the air--quite a sight.
