This large swallowtail one of many seen flying on Mary's Peak, the tallest peak of the Coastal Range of mountains in Oregon. They were feeding on red columbine, and on fir trees. I saw two of them doing a mating dance in the air--quite a sight.
It took three trips to the Yaquina Head to get good views of this lighthouse, due to heavy fogs and extreme winds. Third time was a charm, with the fog bank waiting...
