In some areas of the Michigan forests, Eastern Swallowtail butterflies were flying everywhere. On one small forest road I saw this group of them "puddling" in the damp earth, presumably obtaining needed minerals. I was happy they allowed me to move in closer to shoot them, until a couple came by in a dune buggy (only other vehicle on the road) zoomed by and off they flew. Michigan, June, 2019
Walking near Glory Lake in the Hartwick Pines State Park area, I spotted this nesting Red-eyed Vireo. It was hard to photograph, up under a canopy of leaves, so this is the best I was able to get. Michigan, June 3019
I believe this pretty dragonfly is a Hudsonian Whiteface--yellow female, per my field guide. Michigan, June, 2019
