Pika at Jasper ~ This very cute Pika was the only wildlife I saw when I went up the Jasper Gondola to "high country" above treeline. My goal was White-tailed Ptarmigan and Grey Crowned Rosy Finches, other tundra creatures. They were smarter than I, who found myself in lightning, thunder, rain, fog, snow and hail for 5 hours! Only the Pika ventured out, so I was glad to see him, for sure. Judith Sparhawk
Pika ~ This cute little tundra rodent is very fast, so I was thrilled that he was distracted by needing food, and nibbled on grasses and other small tundra plants, ignoring me and my camera. This was up at the top of the Jasper Gondola, above treeline.
Pika ~ Another view of the cute little Pika at the top of the Jasper Gondola, in Alberta. It was very windy and cold at the top, and even hailed where we were, and snowed upslope a bit. I hope his thick fur kept him warmer than my bushy jacket did.
