~ While visiting Elk Island in Alberta last week, I found a pair of nesting Red-necked Grebes. This female may well have been still incubating eggs, although she had at least one hatchling under her feathers. The male was swimming in the lake nearby the nest. The yellow flowers in the background are Indian Pond Lilies.
Red Squirrel ~ This type of tree squirrel inhabits the forests around Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. They leap from limb to limb in trees and scold intruders who wander into their forest territories.
~ This Belted Whiteface Dragonfly was photographed on the boardwalk at Clinton E. Lee Natural Area, near Devon, Alberta. I liked its red markings.
