I was sitting out by Morro Rock, photographing sea otters, and this heron flew by and perched on the rocks nearby. Needless to say, I was distracted from the otters for a little while.
In the area beside Morro Rock, while shooting the sea otters, this Western Gull posed on a nearby rock. I liked the cloud display behind him, despite its portent of more rain to come.
This image was selected as Imaging Resources' Photo of the Day for March 14, 2017. This teal is showing why it is named Blue-winged. Often when it is sitting on the water, the blue doesn't show. I don't think I've ever seen it this evident, so was happy with how it turned out.
