Based on early childhood memories of visiting the spirit houses, we looked up the town of Eklutna, north of Anchorage. The old Russian Orthodox church is there, with the graveyard of spirit houses to visit.
On the Seward Highway returning to Anchorage, we decided to take the side trip to the town of Hope. This shows the road to Hope, a beautiful road. I guess it's always a good thing to know how far you have to go for some hope!
Traveling down the Sterling highway from Kenai to Homer, this viewpoint gives a dramatic and beautiful view of Kachemak Bay surrounding Homer. The famous Homer Spit can be seen leading out into the bay, which is surrounded by beautiful mountains. What an introduction to the Homer area!
