I remember seeing bear caches when I was small and lived in Alaska. They were designed to store food and supplies to keep them away from bears. When visiting last summer, we saw a few caches that seem to be mostly decorative and reminiscent of the history of the land. This one with a carved eagle and bear, appeared to be one of these.
I had never seen this color of poppies before! I saw them in two locations in Alaska, in the outskirts of Homer, and in the town of Seldovia.
This interesting wildflower was first spotted out on Marathon Road, near the town of Kenai., on the Kenai Peninsula, Alaska.
