This attractive Russian Orthodox church is in the town of Ninilchik, and shows some of the graveyard crosses and in the backgound, the crest of the volcano, Mount Iliamna.
I remember seeing bear caches when I was small and lived in Alaska. They were designed to store food and supplies to keep them away from bears. When visiting last summer, we saw a few caches that seem to be mostly decorative and reminiscent of the history of the land. This one with a carved eagle and bear, appeared to be one of these.
