Yesterday I posted a photo of the lenticular clouds over the mountains near my home, and promised to show what it looked like as the sun set and reflected pink in the clouds to the east. So here it is--I took quite a few as the sunset progressed, walking from one spot to another for "yet a better view". It was quite a sight, and was almost dark by the time I walked home through the neighborhood--all the pink gone by then. 11/8/20 My website: www.sparhawkphotography.com
On my way home from work I noticed some unusual clouds to the north and east. They reminded me of lenticular clouds, but not quite. It was windy, so maybe they were. I hurried home and grabbed my camera and started walking, looking for a spot to shoot between houses and telephone wires. The sun was just about to set, and the mountains were pinking up and the clouds picking up the golden light reflected from the west. I walked block after block, shooting as the light and color changed. Tomorrow I will post what the sky looked like a few minutes later in all its glory. 11/7/20 My website" www.sparhawkphotography.com
This mural is on the side of a building by the parking lot behind the gallery where I work. It was originally painted in the 1980s by Karen Wilmot, for the Kiwanis Club, to commemorate a fundraising run through Redlands. The mural was later restored by local artist, Larry Dierdorff, in 2014. The homes shown in the mural are specific well known historic homes in town. The cut-stone curbs represent the original type of curbs used in building Redlands, and are still in existence in many older areas of town. 10/16/20 My website: www.sparhawkphotography.com
