When walking around downtown Redlands the other night, I happened into the Orange Street Alley at just about sunset. It has these colorful umbrellas hanging the entire length of the alley, but for this shot I just looked up and noticed how the sunset light practically made the umbrellas glow. I liked the view with just a few of the umbrellas. 9/8/20 My website: www.sparhawkphotography.com
Last Saturday night I decided to go to downtown Redlands for a walkabout on State Street, where outside dining is held in the street during the closure of dine-in restaurants. Several downtown restaurants are participating in this program. The tables were mostly full, there was live music, and there was a very festive feel in the air. I walked up and down a few streets with my camera. I know I posted one of the dining, about a month ago, but this is a different part of the street, and is later, for a whole different look. It was fun looking in store windows and people-watching on this warm summer evening. 9/4/20 My website: www.sparhawkphotography.com
Due to Covid-19, all of our dine-in restaurants have been mandated to close again. Redlands' solution was to institute alfresco dining on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, closing down the first few blocks of downtown State Street, and offering dining in the street by several local restaurants, from 6 to 9 pm. Tonight I went down the street to observe the set-up and the beginning of the dinner service. This is a painterly version of a shot I took of the tables set up by Caprice Cafe, a fine dining restaurant. This program has been touted as a success thus far (Began July 9th), and is expected to continue into October, depending on pandemic conditions. 8/7/20 My website: www.sparhawkphotography.com
