AK Smiley Library - Judith Sparhawk
This is an exterior view of the historic public library in Redlands, CA. Yesterday I posted a pic of the interior spiral staircase, which leads up to the tower seen here. The AK Smiley Library was completed in 1898 by the Smiley brothers, who believed that the town of Redlands should have a library for culture, education and enlightenment. The tower was designed for electric lighting, to signify the library's mission" "to give the light of knowledge freely to all who make use of its free privileges."
