These Chocolate Lilies were photographed in a natural botanical garden in Homer, Alaska. I have always thought of these flowers as very rare (I do know one place in Southern California that they grow, but are quite rare). They are a wildflower, and I did see them a couple of places in Alaska, but even there they seem really special. Their rich brown color is quite unusual, and set them apart. 8/17/20 My website: www.sparhawkphotography.com
I guess there is no end to the ways I can play with the name of the town, Hope, Alaska. Yes, there is still hope in our lives...but this is the last photo from Hope that I will be posting for now. This pano composite is of several of the cabins or houses around in Hope. Most of the existing buildings are of quite old construction, each with its own charm. I put several together so I won't bore you with day after day of these shots, and yet still shows a part of this small Alaskan town. (Actually it isn't really called a town, it is shown as a "census designated place", a term I've not seen before!) 8/16/20 My website: www.sparhawkphotography.com
Well, this is about it for downtown Hope. Oh yes, there's a social club, built in 1902. This Seaview Cafe doubles as a general store, and the Seaview Bar is right beyond. The town has quite a few historic cabins and homes. This is really old-time Alaska, and was a fun side-trip on the way back to Anchorage. 8/15/20 My website: www.sparhawkphotography.com
