This grasshopper showed up on my patio one day, just a tiny little thing, but over time grew to about 3 times its size, mostly staying on my Boston Fern. When I would water the plants, wherever it was, it would hop off and get out of the way of the water. In this shot it had hopped up on a plant at the stucco side of the house. I'm not up for the extreme macros that Bruno does, but I liked the way this guy looked.
I was wandering in Costco yesterday, and noticed a box of these wine bottles. I liked the shape of the bottles and the color of the wine, as well as the rose label on the neck of each bottle. I have no idea what the wine tastes like, but couldn't resist a couple of cell phone shots.
I ran across this old photo of mine taken at Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Gardens in Claremont, CA. They had sponsored a calendar competition one year, asking for photos taken in the garden. This was one of my entries (back in film days), which ended up being selected as First Place, with a quite nice cash prize. I was surprised that with all the pretty flower shots that were entered, my old pinecone took top honors. The comment was, "It was so different". It was fun seeing my work in the calendar.
