I went out for a walk, planning to wait for the full moon to rise. As I walked down one street, I saw the sun going down behind a leafless tree. I took a couple of quick shots of it. On the computer, after cloning out extraneous objects like the telephone wires, the edge of a roof, a couple of distracting cypress trees, I cropped it to include just the setting sun and the tree. I used a painterly filter on it, to give a more abstract look. BTW, as I waited for the moonrise, it became very misty over the mountain, and I realized I'd not be able to get the sharp clear moon shot I'd hoped for, so home I went, with just the sunset. 2/18/22 www.sparhawkphotography.com
This started out as an image of a big old oak tree in the county park in the tiny town of Los Alamos, in central California. It was taken mid-morning, when I stopped by to spot Yellow-billed Magpies. I ran across the original shot, and decided to play with it a bit, making it more magical. Obviously the moon and raven were added, and I played with the colors. It's really just for fun, and I tried it out in several different colors. See what happens when I am procrastinating about working on my taxes??? 2/17/22 www.sparhawkphotography.com
I ran across this photo from some time ago and decided to try it in black & white. This was a fence around a family plot in a small cemetery at the community of Paradise, Arizona. Paradise was established as a mining town in 1901, and later was considered a ghost town. There are several homes there now, and is well known for good birding. I have visited the cemetery a few times, have birded there, and have enjoyed noting the very old headstones. 2/16/22 www.sparhawkphotography.com
