This pretty male Cinnamon Teal was photographed on my recent trip down to Salton Sea, at the State Park Headquarters and Campground. I like the swirling look of the reflections in the water. 1/28/22 www.sparhawkphotography.com
Verdins are tiny little flitty birds of desert environments. For their 4-1/2 inch size, they have a remarkably loud song, which for me is the giveaway that they are even there. I love their yellow faces and the chestnut shoulder patch. Since they are so small and always moving, it is a treat to get this view. Photographed at the Sonny Bono Visitor's Center at Sonny Bono Salton Sea National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters. 1/27/22
A birding trip around the Salton Sea area involves driving miles and miles, much on dirt roads, to get to likely spots for different birds. It is a dry desert environment except for the Sea itself and the many agricultural fields. Imagine my surprise when driving in the desert, to come across this table and chairs sitting out in the open, all by themselves. I couldn't resist taking a couple of shots. This is a painterly version of the scene--I liked the unexpected look of it. 1/26/22 www.sparhawkphotography.com
