This is a more detailed view of the lupine flowers that I posted yesterday. It wasn't the best close-up of the flowers that I got, but I am posting this one because it shows a lady bug flying over. During my hike there in the mountains, lady bugs were clearly migrating through- thousands of them flew by while I was on the trail. I looked for somewhere that they might be lighting and clustering, but I only saw them on the wing. 6/16/22 www.sparhawkphotography.com
I recently went up to Forest Falls Recreation Area in the San Bernardino Mountains. I was happy to see the large areas of lupine above the picnic area. It was the only wildflower I saw, and was very pretty (though pinker than lots of lupine I see.) I checked, and there are over 200 types of wild lupine, mostly all in North America, and range from blue to purple to yellow to white. These pinky purple ones looked very healthy, and were about 1 foot tall. 6/15/22 www.sparhawkphotography.com
