So I had a project to create an image for the National Orange Show, a fair-like event that has been held locally since 1911, celebrating the citrus industry. Every year they have an art show with two themes, Citrus and Open. There are good prizes, and it is a fun show to enter. I've never gotten higher than 3rd prize and Honorable Mentions, but it's always worth entering. I'm not sure this will be my citrus entry, but it's what came to mind. I'll have to decide on my entries by mid-March, so I have some time to figure it out. It was fun to start with nothing but "citrus" and go from there.
This shot was taken several years ago in the East Sierras, near North Lake, one of the lakes high above Bishop, CA. The morning light was coming through the leaves, giving a warm glow to the trunks of the trees.
While birding at San Jacinto Wildlife area, I noticed these marsh plants in the rippled water. I played with the colors to give it a more dramatic look.
