I went birding out at Lake Perris State Park the other day. Later in the day the sky and water turned golden. 1/22/22 www.sparhawkphotography.com
I went hiking and birding today at Wildwood Canyon State Park. Toward the end of the hike, within sight of the parking lot, I spotted this bobcat. He was pretty far away, but prowling toward me. I was hoping he would get much closer before he noticed me, but a couple of joggers went by and he disappeared into the brush. This image was cropped a lot, since he was so far away. 1/21/22 www.sparhawkphotography.com
When I was in the San Diego area over Christmas, one of the places I went birding was Lindo Lakes in Lakeside, CA. I was amazed at how many of these herons there were--I probably saw about 50 of them. They were perched in trees, feeding at the lake edges, even squabbling with each other and the ducks over the bread that people were tossing to the ducks. I was standing by a lake photographing Wood Ducks and this heron flew over and perched on a branch over the water--OK, OK, I'll take your picture. ;-) 1/20/22 www.sparhawkphotography.com
