I took a little birding trip up into the San Jacinto Mountains a couple of days ago. I spent some time hiking around Lake Fulmor, a small mountain lake at about 5400 feet elevation. I hadn't been there for several years (the road up was closed for a couple of years to repair extensive damage from heavy rains one winter). It was so great being in the mountains--it was fairly birdy, with lots of butterflies and some dragonflies. It just reopened recently, and it was just the break I needed after being at home way too much! 6/20/20 My website: www.sparhawkphotography.com
We've had quite a bit of rain the last few days. Yesterday afternoon it finally cleared up, with wonderful clouds in the sky. When I went out for a walk I noticed that we had a new coating of snow on the mountains, which is unusual here for as late as March. A new storm came in today with more rain all day, so it will be interesting to see what the mountains look like when this storm finally heads out. 3/13/20 My website: www.sparhawkphotography.com
This colorful art piece is across the street from the Beach in Santa Barbara, CA. I have driven past it before and wanted to photograph it, but the traffic and timing was never right. On my way up to Morro Bay last week I drove by again, and made a quick turn to get to a good spot to shoot it. Very glad I did this time! 11/17/18 Judith Sparhawk
