These are two of the wild horses in the band out on the hillsides beyond Lake Saguaro. They were standing near the "laughing" horse I posted yesterday. They appear to be much more dignified as they stood together watching me. Maybe not a smile shot, but a peek into the secret lives of these beautiful wild spirits. 2/6/22 www.sparhawkphotography.com
Going back into my pics of the wild horses in Arizona, I noticed this one of the "laughing" horse. He was standing in with some other horses on the hills beyond Saguaro Lake, and had been grazing on the brush on the dry hillside. Suddenly he began making very funny faces like this, and some with his tongue out. I didn't appreciate them at the time, but looking back, I got a kick out of this one. 2/5/22 www.sparhawkphotography.com
These two Bonaparte Gulls were photographed on my trip down to the north end of the Salton Sea on December 30 of last year. These pretty little gulls are in their winter plumage--at breeding time they will have black heads rather than just the black spot. These were the 300th species of birds on my 2021 year list. Talk about coming in under the "last minute" wire! ;-) 2/4/22 www.sparhawkphotography.com
