I ran across this older photograph from the Tall Ships Festival held in Dana Point, California. This ship is named The Californian, and was one of the ships that participated in the cannon battles at sea. I was in the ship called The Bill of Rights when I took this shot. I had made a few different versions of it, with different filters. I hadn't ever posted this one before. 12/9/21 www.sparhawkphotography.com
This mural was on the same building as the one I posted a couple of days ago. It depicts Old Town San Diego from an earlier time. The church is still there, still in use, Church of the Immaculate Conception. The cornerstone of the church was laid in 1868, but the church was not completed (for a variety of reasons) until 1917. The style and subject of this mural is so different from the one on the right side of the building, I am assuming it was painted by a different artis. 12/2/21 www.sparhawkphotography.com
I made a visit to the Veteran's Park in Las Cruces, New Mexico. It has many sculptures and other monuments to the various armed services. To me, one of the most touching was this sculpture of soldiers from a specific time and place during WWII. Thank you to all the veterans who have bravely served this country, in and out of wartime, in so many places in the world. 11/11/21 www.sparhawkphotography.com
