A few weeks ago I went on a photoshoot to the Noah Purifoy Desert Museum of Assemblage Art. I posted a couple of shots from there earlier, and here is another one today. Noah was an African-American man from Alabama, who worked as an artist for many years in Los Angeles. At the age of 60 he moved out to the Mojave Desert, near Joshua Tree National Park, and over a 23 year period constructed dozens of strange and unusual sculptures and assemblages over a 10 acre area. He passed away in 2004. The "museum" has been maintained, and although some of it is a little worse for wear, it was an interesting place. I will likely be showing a few more of these assemblages, just for fun. It was difficult to determine just what was going on in Noah's mind for some of this, but he certainly showed creativity and ingenuity. 12/10/19 Judith Sparhawk
This golden chicken was one of several resident chickens at the nursery/garden shop I visited in Morongo Valley, CA. I thought this one had very unusual coloring, and I especially liked the sweep of head and neck feathers shown here. The owner told me what kind of chickens she had, but I don't recall the names. One of them--maybe not this one--lays blue eggs. 12/9/19 Judith Sparhawk
This is a small portion of the many metal gecko sculptures on the walls of a garden shop and art gallery in Morongo Valley, CA. They were all different colors and sizes and were, of course, for sale. I liked the way these looked against the wood wall. 12/8/19 Judith Sparhawk
