On my way home from birding the other day I passed the most-decorated house in Redlands. It was almost dark and all the lights were on. I especially liked this small part of the huge display, showing Santa being helped up to the roof so he could come down the chimney. I'll bet his elves wish he hadn't eaten so many Christmas cookies! I know it's December--in fact only a couple of days before Christmas--but here in Southern California, you never know when fall color will show up! I went birding down at San Jacinto Wildlife Area today. The birds were fairly skittish (it's duck hunting season down there two days a week), but I was surprised to see so much color still in some of the trees.
