I was birding at Oak Glen Nature Preserve, where I hadn't been for some time. New to me was this wonderful metal gate to Children's Forest, with all its details showing the children at play, the trees, and many animals. 2/10/22 www.sparhawkphotography.com
These two Bonaparte Gulls were photographed on my trip down to the north end of the Salton Sea on December 30 of last year. These pretty little gulls are in their winter plumage--at breeding time they will have black heads rather than just the black spot. These were the 300th species of birds on my 2021 year list. Talk about coming in under the "last minute" wire! ;-) 2/4/22 www.sparhawkphotography.com
After spending time with the horses by the river, I followed a tip and found two other bands of horses on the hillsides beyond Lake Saguaro. They looked a little different from the horses on the river--a little thinner, a bit more rugged. They were mostly peacefully grazing on the dry grass and brush, but just as I was about to leave, these two horses had a difference of opinion, resulting in a brief conflict; I only got one shot of the action! 11/9/21 www.sparhawkphotography.com
