This image includes two large tiles showing elements of Avila Beach in San Luis Bay, on the central coast of California. The tiles are each about 3 foot squares, located on either side of the entrances to the public restroom. As unlikely a place as that is, they were beautiful tiles, each showing elements of the local area, showing piers, a fishing and sailboat, the train, sea creatures, lighthouses, California Poppies, and even, in the distance, Morro Rock. One even shows representations of early native peoples. I combined the two tiles into one image to show the contrasts. 12/19/22 www.sparhawkphotography.com
On the dock in the marina at Morro Bay, where I photographed the sea otters and the feather from yesterday's post, I spotted this "Christmas Tree" which had been created by the crab fishermen. It was made of crab traps ("pots"), decorated with floats or crab trap markers. It was a fun nod to the season, topped with a crab, of course! Morro Rock can be seen in the background, across the bay. 12/18/22 www.sparhawkphotography.com
After shooting the sea otters, I walked around on the marina pier in the Morro Bay harbor. It was early morning, and I spotted this feather on the very weathered wood of the old pier. It was dotted with dew in the cool early morning air. 12/17/22 www.sparhawkphotography.com
