On a recent hike at Mill Creek in the San Bernardino Mountains, there was quite a variety of wildflowers in bloom. I wasn't able to identify this flower, but the very busy honeybee seemed to like it, no matter what its name. 5/18/21 www.sparhawkphotography.com
While on the hike along Mill Creek, there was a lot of Scotch Broom in bloom, with it's bright yellow flowers and sweet scent. There were many ladybugs on the flowers, although they were very skillful in hiding inside the flowers or under the petals. This image shows one of the ladybugs on the Broom flower. Most of the flowers are less than a half-inch in length, so this is a real close view! 5/17/21 www.sparhawkphotography.com
I went birding out at San Jacinto Wildlife Area today. The dragonflies were all over the place, zipping and zooming over the wetlands and along the shore, many even mating in flight. Very few were stopping to light anywhere, and thus were difficult to photograph. This is a female Variegated Meadowhawk, about the only one that stopped for a moment for her portrait. 10/13/20 My website: www.sparhawkphotography.com
