Wasp at Nest ~ I found this wasp nest in my neighbor's patio, and asked if I could photograph it. I couldn't find a wasp with quite these markings in my insect field guide. In this view, I liked being able to see the detail in its eye, and the texture of the wings. View at larger sizes for the best detail.
Yuba Fritillary ~ This pretty butterfly seemed to be the most common one this August on the east side of the Sierras.
Sierra Pericopid Moth ~ This pretty little moth was fluttering around in mountain meadows during the daytime in Yosemite National Park. I liked its black and white markings and the orange spots by its head.
