This must have been a particularly yummy flower, as the butterflies were clustering and fluttering around it. Taken at the butterfly exhibit, San Diego Safari Park. The exhtbit is held ever year in March/April--of course the whole park was closed this year, so this is from a past visit. 7/10/20 My website: wwwsparhawkphotography.com
This colorful beetle was photographed in Madera Canyon in SE Arizona. I was hiking back down a steep mountain trail (had hiked up looking for an Elegant Trogon) and almost stepped on him. I loved his green body with purple legs--can you believe those colors?--so of course I took some pics of him. He was so exotic looking, I thought maybe I had found some rare critter. When I got down to the parking lot, I saw the natural history sign, and there was his picture! He is a Beyer's Leaf Chafing Beetle, minding his own business, probably chafing a leaf, whatever that is! 7/2/20 My website: www.sparhawkphotography.com
