I photographed this small butterfly at Salton Sea recently. It is not the most beautiful butterfly, but I hadn't seen it before to my knowledge, so I shot it. Trying to identify it, I became intrigued by the small family of Cloudywings, with such unusual names as Coyote Cloudywing, Confused Cloudywing, Jalapus Cloudywing, Drusius Cloudywing. 6/9/20 My website: www.sparhawkphotography.com
During my recent trip to San Diego, I made a birding stop at the Bird & Butterfly Garden at Tijuana River Valley Regional Park, Imperial Beach, CA. This Western Swallowtail Butterfly was flying around the flowering bushes. I got a few shots of it as it rested and fed at these flowers. 5/3/20 My website: www.sparhawkphotography.com
Fun playing with old images--this beautiful mushroom I found in a forest in Alaska, and a snail I photographed years ago in my livingroom, after a couple of baby snails crawled out of the calla lilies I had brought in from the garden. It went from a flower shoot to a snail shoot, just like that! 1/4/20 Judith Sparhawk
