When I was at Big Bear Alpine Zoo the other day, I saw this red fox pacing inside his cage, which was really quite large and nicely outfitted for him. When I went by later, he was plopped down, looking hot and ready for a nap. It's been hot enough here that even at 7,000 feet it was about 90 degrees, and his beautiful coat looked way too heavy. 7/14/21 www.sparhawkphotography.com
When I was up in the mountains recently, I spotted this squirrel with a great bushy tail. He had some goodie in his mouth and kept his eye on me as he zipped up one tree and then another. I had the feeling he was waiting for me to go away before he went to his "house". After watching him for a few minutes I left so he could go on about his daily business. 7/12/21 www.sparhawkphotography.com
I went birding at Yucaipa Regional Park today. A lot of the wintering birds are gone, but the wildflowers are beginning to bloom. I happened to spot this little bunny in the grass, sitting completely still, as if hiding. When I got my camera on him and got one shot off, he ran across the path and into the bushes. I figure he's waiting for Easter, hiding out in the wings for the festivities to begin! 4/3/21 www.sparhawkphotography.com
