Photographed at the Tijuana River Estuary in Imperial Beach, CA. Its name used to be Light-footed Clapper Rail, and is endangered. Here it is showing its feet.
This usually secretive rail was out and about due to the high tide the day after Thanksgiving.
This duck was photographed at San Diego Safari Park. Though not native to North America, it is distantly related to our Redhead and Canvasback Ducks.
