Previously known as the Clapper Rail, as of July 2014, is Ridgway's Rail. ~ The day after Thanksgiving there was a +7.1 ft. tide on the west coast. I headed out to Imperial Beach, wanting to see the very high tide in the estuary there, hoping to see this "Light-footed" Clapper Rail. They are usually well hidden in the salt marsh grass; in higher tides, they lose their cover. This dangerously discloses them to predators; however it makes them good subjects for photographers.
