Just for fun, a couple of shots I took down at San Jacinto Wildlife Area recently. I thought it was interesting to see how they were all up and swimming at once, and then were all down at the same time. Not the sharpest shot, as they were moving fairly fast, but I kind of liked it anyway. 3/8/21 www.sparhawkphotography.com
This view of a pelican in flight shows just how wide that wingspan it! Per my field guide, the wingspan in 108 inches. The bump on the top of his bill shows the beginning of the growth of the fibrous plate, or knob, that develops during breeding. After the eggs are laid the knob disappears; the white head will become grayish while feeding chicks. 2/26/21 www.sparhawkphotography.com
