When I visited Salton Sea 2/1/15, I found an area with hundreds of Brown Pelicans, already in their colorful breeding plumage. Mostly they were loafing on small island areas near shore. This photograph shows three in flight, coming down to join their friends.
This unusual looking goose is native to Africa. Most of them in the wild in the US were escapees. This one was photographed at a lake in San Bernardino, California.
