These are two adult Least Terns, photographed at Oso Flaco Lake, near Santa Maria, California. These adults were feeding their young, making repeated forays from the bridge railing to the lake for tasty bites.

The Least Tern is the smallest North American tern. This is a juvenile bird, photographed at Oso Flaco Lake near Santa Maria, California. It was waiting on a bridge railing for Mom or Pop to come feed it. Although I saw this happen several times, I never got good photos of it.
