Black-necked Stilt ~ This stilt was admiring himself in his reflection, or so I like to think. His plumage reminds me of a spiffy tuxedo. He was in a pond in the Salton Sea area.
Cranes in the Sunrise ~ These Sandhill Cranes were flying out to the grassy fields to feed for the day. I arrived well before dawn, and could hear the thousands of Snow Geese and the cranes before I could see them. Then the sun rose, and lit up the world.
Out On A Limb ~ These Double-crested Cormorants were covering a large old tree snag, and I enjoyed watching their antics. There are many of these birds wintering at Salton Sea, on rocky shores, on trees, in the water, small flocks flying by.
