Black Oystercatcher ~ Most of the Black Oystercatchers I saw this week in the Morro Bay area were off in the distance. I was happy to see this one right by the shore where I was shooting the Sea Otters. His orange bill was discolored from digging around in the mud for yummy treats left as the tide went out.
Black Turnstone ~ This bird was one of several turnstones on the rocks by the surf in Morro Bay, California. He is in his winter plumage, which is lighter than his breeding attire.
Cattle Egrets ~ These are a few of the Cattle Egrets sitting beside an irrigation ditch near Salton Sea recently. It was early morning, and about 25 or more egrets were sunning themselves.
