Snow and Ross's Geese ~ This image demonstrates well the differences between the Snow and Ross's geese; the Snow is larger, has a longer bill; the cute smaller one in front is Ross's. They were in a mass of both species in a lake area at Bosque del Apache in New Mexico.
Western Gull ~ This large dark mantled gull is one of the most common on the West Coast. This one was photographed at La Jolla Cove, in the San Diego, CA area, over the Thanksgiving weekend.
Brown Pelican ~ I stood on the cliffs over La Jolla Cove, during a high tide, with the spray from large waves hitting the rocks below. I practiced my in-flight photography (the birds in flight, not me!) This Brown Pelican was flying by, already showing some breeding colors on his head and neck.
