Talking Sandhill Crane ~ One of the Bosque del Apache Sandhill Cranes. I liked his melodious calls, and catching him with his bill open during his calls.
~ This Sandhill Crane seemed unconcerned with my presence. I liked the shadow he cast as he dug around in the earth looking for insects. Up close, you can see the golden eye, set in the red skin on the crane's head. Contrasting with the blue-gray, it is very striking.
Snow Goose ~ Winter birding trips to Bosque del Apache in New Mexico bring exciting views of masses of Snow Geese, with their loud calls and beating wings. This single goose was one of hundreds in this lake area.
