This medium sized flycatcher, the Say's Phoebe, was photographed at the Tijuana River Estuary in Imperial Beach, CA a few weeks ago. Although we have some here year round, it is much more common in the winter months. This one posed long enough for me to get several shots of it. 5/28/20 My website: www.sparhawkphotography.com
On a recent birding trip to San Jacinto Wildlife Area, the Red-winged Blackbirds were all over the place, singing, calling, displaying for mates. Most of them were off in the cattails, but this one perched on the fenceline beside the road. He was singing very enthusiastically. 4/9/20 My website: www.sparhawkphotography.com
A couple of days ago I saw my "first of season" Western Kingbirds at San Jacinto Wildlife Area. They come here in the spring and some stay and nest in this area. Today I was hiking (by myself) in San Timoteo Canyon and saw more of them. Yes, it's spring! This shot was taken on the hike today. 4/3/20 My website: www.sparhawkphotography.com
