Female Sage Grouse ~ This female grouse was just outside Bodie State Park. There were at least 30 to 40 birds around, feeding on the grasses and sage brush in the fields beyond the road.
Sage Grouse ~ This male Sage Grouse was photographed at Bodie State Park, where they spend some time during the summer season. Most of the grouse there were females and young; I was glad to see this large male, so close-up.
Wild Turkey ~ This male turkey was one of a large flock of wild turkeys that live in Madera Canyon, in the Santa Rita Mountains in southeastern Arizona. About 20 of them roosted in a tall sycamore tree next to the cabin where I was staying; they made quite a commotion flying up into the tree for the night.
