I finally got out to shoot wildflowers! I had planned to go somewhere else, but a couple of closed roads took me way out of my way, so I decided to go to San Jacinto Wildlife Area, where I usually go birding. This rainy winter has turned the area into a flower wonderland--lupine, wild mustard, fiddlenecks, baby-blue eyes, and a lot of unidentified yellow flowers. All the years I have been going to this place, I've never seen it like this. Some places the mustard was over 6 feet high! The only thing I missed was California Poppies. This view is of lupine and mustard, with a treeline in the background. 3/27/19 Judith Sparhawk
Trying to avoid the heat wave, I've been taking my walk at the end of the day when it has cooled down to 90 degrees or so. A couple of nights ago my walk lasted past sunset, and in the pink clouds left above, I saw this tiny sliver of the new moon, heading down toward the western horizon to set. A sweet moment... 8/6/19 Judith Sparhawk
I ran across this photograph taken from the back deck of my daughter's house when she lived in Colorado. It was late afternoon in the summer, and a storm was clearly brewing. This was a view of the distant storm. 5/28/19 Judith Sparhawk
