Trying to avoid the heat wave, I've been taking my walk at the end of the day when it has cooled down to 90 degrees or so. A couple of nights ago my walk lasted past sunset, and in the pink clouds left above, I saw this tiny sliver of the new moon, heading down toward the western horizon to set. This image is from a trip to the San Rafael Grasslands in southeast Arizona. It was in August, monsoon season, with spectacular clouds. Within 20 minutes the dark clouds had come in and we were in the middle of a downpour. 3/8/19 Judith Sparhawk
