This is another variety of hollyhock in the garden I ran across the other day. I liked the way some were deep pink, others light like these, with red in the centers. 6/2/19 Judith Sparhawk
I was driving around in Redlands today and spotted a large bed of hollyhocks of many different colors, outside the fence of a yard. Of course I had to stop and shoot several of the colors, and since it was right by the street, I didn't even need to ask permission. 5/31/19 Judith Sparhawk
I don't know the name of this tree, but it has very interesting spiky golden flowers, and tends to grow quite skinny and very tall. When it is in bloom it attracts many types of birds--warblers, orioles, tanagers, vireos. Although this tree was down the street from where I live, I recall sitting across from this type of tree in San Diego one time, and saw 10 species of birds flitting around in the branches and flowers. 6/7/19 Judith Sparhawk
