This is one of the lotus blooms from Echo Park in Los Angeles. I posted an overview shot of the park; this focuses in on one perfect flower. Visiting there, it's hard not to take about a zillion shots of the flowers. I promise I won't show all zillion, tho I don't promise not to show maybe a couple more. In Buddhism, the lotus flower symbolizes fortune; in ancient Egypt it symbolized creation.
When I visited my son in San Diego last month, I went out on their patio and found several huge pots of orchids, all of them covered with masses of blooms. (My daughter-in-law has quite a green thumb!) This shot shows just a few of the flowers in one of the pots.
