The cactus bloom was photographed in the garden outside the county museum.
Among other cactus plants in a garden in Imperial Beach, CA, was this 8 foot tall cactus with very strange yellow "flowers" on it. None of the yellow balls on this cactus seemed to open into flowers, but they didn't appear to be fruit, either.
