This very spiny cactus was photographed in Arizona this last summer. Getting up close like this shows how the spines grow in clumps, in a straight line. 11/6/18 Judith Sparhawk
This strange flower was in the Desert Garden of Huntington Library gardens. It is a type of Starfish Flower. In larger sizes the fuzzy petal edges show up very well. I believe it is an African plant. 2/1/19 Judith Sparhawk
