Fun with Abstracts

Birds!

For a bird person like myself, this very colorful and eye-catching piece of fabric in the window of a local store, was a must-shoot moment! This was photographed through glass, and the items in the lower part of the shot are part of the window display. 12/18/19 Judith Sparhawk

Water Abstract

One day of the Morro Bay trip, we drove down the coast to Avila Beach, walking out on the Port San Luis pier (looking for a certain bird, which we did not find). I did see some neat abstract patterns on the surface of the water beside the pier, and took a few shots. This was my favorite, slightly cropped, and adjusted a bit for contrast and color saturation. Abstract in Browns

Working with colors, going from a bright pallette to one of textured browns. This one makes me think of primitive early man art, maybe inside a cave somewhere. I know that's a stretch, but it gives me that sense.

There were lovely colors in the feathers on a a duck. I used this photograph to create this abstract. I liked the way you could still see some of the texture of the feathers.

Window Abstract

After shooting a window with shadows, I decided to make it into an abstract. I liked the way the lines and patterns worked together. For all who saw my black and white window yesterday, this is an abstract that I created with the window image. I thought it was fun.

Purple Glory

At the Renaissance Faire one of the vendors had a beautiful purple satin cape with this great design in gold and other colors. Having no use for a gorgeous purple satin cape ( my superhero or formal wear days being over), I just took this photo of it instead.

Crazy Cape

When I was at the Renaissance Faire last April, one of the vendors had a beautiful purple embroidered cape. I took a few shots of it, and all these months later, decided to play with filters and see what I could do. This is one of them.

Pond Reflections

When I was out birding, I noticed the pretty reflections on a nearby pond. There were palm trees and blue sky, and they were much prettier and more dramatic in the reflection than in real life. I thought it made a nice abstract. Judith Sparhawk
