I went birding today in San Timoteo Canyon, out of Redlands, CA. I hiked far enough down canyon that I got to the riparian area, and was surprised how much yellow foliage there still is along the creek. Although many of the leaves were in the top half of the trees, there was still an amazing amount of color for January. This is a filtered version of a shot I took of the area. Just before I took this one, I saw a coyote on the trail--by the time I got the camera up he was too far away for a good shot, but it was great seeing wildlife in the canyon. 1/14/20 Judith Sparhawk
Sometimes putting together ordinary objects can create a whole. Being a birder and a bit of a writer, these bit and pieces of photos felt like they belonged together. Just my fun time tonight! 7/11/20 My website: www.sparhawkphotography.com
Today I went to the Lavender Festival at 123 Farm in Cherry Valley, California. Last year they had to cancel the festival, and this year it is scaled down a bit, but it was a wonderful chance to wander in the lavender fields, look for photo ops, and to enjoy some Lavender Lemonade (the lavender margarita or mojito was tempting, but it was only noon, and I had to drive home.... This shot is of a visitor to the lavender fields--I really liked her look. This is a painterly version of the original image. 6/25/21 www.sparhawkphotograpahy.com
